Privacy Policy
Mouse DPI Checker is designed to estimate mouse DPI in your browser without uploading your measurements or storing test history on our servers.
Last updated: July 23, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Mouse DPI Checker (the "Site"), available at https://mousedpichecker.app, handles information when you visit the Site or use its mouse DPI estimation tool.
Measurement data stays in your browser
To estimate DPI, the tool processes:
- the physical distance and unit you enter;
- horizontal and vertical mouse-movement deltas received after you deliberately press the measurement area and grant Pointer Lock;
- whether the browser provides raw or standard pointer movement; and
- the resulting DPI estimate, movement-quality warning, and current-session test history.
This information is processed locally by JavaScript in your browser. The Site does not send measurement inputs, movement deltas, estimates, or test history to an application server. Test history is kept only in the page's in-memory React state and is removed when you clear it, reload the page, or close the page.
Pointer Lock supplies relative movement values. The tool does not read your mouse's serial number, firmware, configured hardware DPI, files, clipboard, precise screen position, or other device contents.
Accounts, storage, and analytics
The Site does not provide user accounts, contact forms, payments, or file uploads. The DPI measurement tool does not use cookies, localStorage, or sessionStorage for measurements or history.
On the production hostname, the Site uses Google Analytics 4 ("Google Analytics") to understand traffic and how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics may collect page views, session statistics, approximate location, referral information, browser and device information, and interaction events enabled in the Google Analytics property. The Site does not deliberately send the physical distance you enter, mouse-movement deltas, DPI estimates, movement warnings, or test history to Google Analytics.
Google Analytics uses first-party cookies such as _ga and _ga_<container-id> to distinguish users and retain session state. Google documents a default expiration of up to two years, although browser restrictions and user settings may shorten or block that period. Google Analytics uses an IP address during collection to derive approximate location and route the request, then discards the IP address before it is logged in Analytics.
The Site uses this information to measure audience and page performance, identify broad usage patterns, and improve content and usability. Google processes Analytics data under its Privacy Policy and provides more detail about Google Analytics data collection and GA4 cookies.
Hosting and network data
The Site is a static website delivered using Cloudflare Pages. Like other hosting and network providers, Cloudflare may process limited request and security information when your browser requests the Site. Depending on the services in use, this can include an IP address, requested URL, request headers, browser or device information, timestamps, and security or performance metadata.
Cloudflare processes this information to deliver, secure, and operate its services and retains it according to its own service settings and policies. You can learn more in Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
The Site operator does not sell measurement data or use it for cross-site behavioral advertising. Because measurement data is not received by the operator, there is no server-side measurement record to access, correct, export, or delete.
Legal reasons for processing
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, infrastructure request data is processed as necessary to provide and secure the Site and for the legitimate interests of maintaining reliable, abuse-resistant web service. Analytics data is processed to understand and improve the Site. Depending on your location, applicable law may require consent before analytics cookies are stored; in other locations, processing may rely on legitimate interests where permitted, subject to applicable rights and safeguards.
Data retention and international processing
Measurement data and history remain only in the current browser page session as described above. Retention of infrastructure request and security data is controlled by the relevant hosting or network provider and its applicable settings and policies.
Google Analytics retains user-level and event-level data according to the retention setting configured for the Analytics property. Standard GA4 properties provide retention choices of two or fourteen months for this data; aggregated reporting may be retained separately. Google and Cloudflare operate global infrastructure, so analytics and infrastructure data may be processed outside your country. Their privacy materials describe the safeguards they use for international transfers.
Your choices and rights
You can avoid measurement processing by not starting a test, deny or exit Pointer Lock through your browser, clear the visible test history, or close or reload the page. You can block or delete Analytics cookies through your browser settings or use Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights relating to personal information, such as access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or complaint to a data-protection authority. Requests concerning data handled directly by Google or Cloudflare should be made through the contact and rights procedures in their privacy materials.
The current Site does not publish a dedicated operator contact channel. If one is added, it will be displayed on the Site and this policy will be updated.
Children's privacy
The Site is a general-audience utility and does not knowingly request or collect a child's name, contact details, account information, or measurement history. A parent or guardian should supervise a child's use where appropriate.
External links
The Site may link to third-party websites. Their privacy practices are controlled by their operators, not by this policy.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be revised when the Site's features, providers, or legal obligations change. The latest version will be published at https://mousedpichecker.app/privacy/ with an updated "Last updated" date.
